My Birthday "Chick"

My little girl is now 2 years old, and I have two kids! Wow, how time flies! We had a birthday party for her yesterday. We decided to go with a Chickie theme and she LOVED it. We made a Chickie pinata, Chickie cupcakes, Chickie candy bags and Chickie balloons. The kids seemed to have lot of fun and I enjoyed spending time with some of our friends before we all move apart. Here are some pictures from the party and some facts about Emery.
Emery LOVES to sing and is quite good at it. She can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star all the way through by herself. She also makes up a bunch of song to that tune ( when she is playing with her toys. It amazes me how fast she catches onto songs and knows the words. If we are driving in the car or she is playing by herself she is usually always singing or humming to herself. She is VERY social and LOVES to be around other kids or people. The day after we brought Kaven home Tim took her to the park. Some kids came after awhile and she ran right up to them and said, "Hi, I Emery!" and off they went playing. She is a little book worm. If I let her, she would have me read books to her all day long. It is like is is a little sponge and just soaks everything in. Her attention span is amazing! She also can watch T.V. or movies for hours if I let her do that as well. I admit that is nice, I can always put on a show for a little while if I need some time for something. :) She is starting to get an imagination. It is so fun to watch her play and pretend things with her toys or with us. The other day she asked me if I wanted a treat. I said, "sure" then she responded, "Pink or Orange?" I said, "Pink" then she said, "Orange?" shook her head yes and reached under the book she had made into a tee pee and brought me and imaginary treat. She then asked, "Good?" and "More?" This continued for awhile. Imaginations are the greatest! She is so fun and I just love her to pieces!! Happy Birthday my little Chickie doo. We Love you. This picture is after the party. She is playing with her new Littlest Pet Shop stuff she got for her birthday, which she Loves by that way.

My sweet and talented friend/neighbor across the street did some adorable pictures of Kaven today! She does it as a hobby and I think she does awesome. My heart just melts looking at all these pictures. Thanks so much Shannon!!!! You are such a great Friend. I am so glad we are moving to Salt Lake together. Her husband got accepted to P.A. school at the University of Utah too. It is great to know we will have some friends up there sense we are leaving some great ones behind too. Anyway, prepare yourself for a lot of pictures because I had to put a ton on.

Kaven is doing so well. He has been so easy and sweet so far. Two nights ago I had to wake him up at 4:30 a.m. to feed him and then he slept until 7:30 in the morning. And last night he woke up at 2:30 a.m. to eat and slept in until 7:30 again. I can hardly believe it!

He LOVES his daddy. Every time he hears his voice he always pauses and listens close. It might be all the times Tim read out loud to me while I was pregnant. It also might be all the late night and day time diaper changes Tim gives him. He has such a soft touch:). What a good daddy he is!

I have bonded so well with him! I really think it helped to name him before and that he has been so good so far. I really love to just hold him all the time and he is really snugly except he doesn't seem to like kisses so much, but that's o.k. I will kiss him anyway.

Emery has been having kind of a hard time adjusting to the changes. Even though she LOVES her brother, I think it is the changes in the house and not getting as much attention from mom. She is really trying to be independent and big that she throws lots of tantrums and is very stubborn. She LOVES her brother dearly, almost too much I think. She tries to just pick him up, carry him around like her baby doll. She shares all her things with him and throws all her things at him, thinking she is sharing. She hugs and kisses him almost to death but it is still kind of cute even though we have to watch her VERY CLOSE! He is going to be tough is all I have to say.
We sure love our Kaven boy. It is amazing how much love you can have for such a little person. I just wanted to say thanks so much to my mom for coming and helping us for a few days. My mom was a labor and delivery nurse for like 13 years, so I say I am so lucky because I get my own personal nurse to come home with me. The best part is that she is my mom and a wonderful person though. Thanks so much to Tim's mom too. She came and watched Emery for us while we were in the hospital. She is so sweet, patient and helpful. And thanks so much to our friends. They have been so supportive and helpful too, bringing us gifts, taking pictures, watching/playing with Emery, making us meals, and coming to see us. We have the greatest friends in the world! And thanks to the rest of our families, the phone calls, visits, gifts, support ect. Thanks, thanks, thanks, to everyone we really appreciate you all. You have made this experience so much better and wonderful! It has been fun sharing it with you all.

Kavens Story

It all began April 16th. I called my friend to tell her I was ready for my maternity pictures and we planned to do them the next day. I told Tim to get a picture of me just in case. Little did I know I was going to deliver that night. I started getting contraction (which wasn't unusual) but decided to start timing them at 3:30 in the afternoon. Tim was SO sweet to me that day (before I was in labor even). He helped me get the house spotless, gave me a foot massage, scrubbed the bathtub so it would be perfect for my long baths after Kaven came, made me an ice-cream treat (because I might not get it while breastfeeding). At 3:30 in the afternoon he started to time the contraction I had been having. He was so fun through it all. He reminded me of a little boy counting down the days for Christmas. He had a sheet of paper where he was charting everything and then he also did this a graph on Excel with the contractions charted, an average of my contractions and a estimated time of arrival (or something). We still were not sure if it was the real thing or not but by 8:00 p.m. but decided to call Tim's mom to come watch Emery for us. My contractions were so random. Tim's sweet mom got to our house and at 11:30 we decided to go to the hospital just to check where I was, figuring they would send us home. By the time I got ready it was about 12:00. My doctor was already there having just had delivered two babies. She checked me, said I was at a 3+ and said she would stir things up to get things going. As she said this my water broke. She said I was ready for an epidural but they could not get a hold of the anaesthesiologist on call. They ended up calling another guy who was not on call and he came right in and did an excellent job. At around 2:30 they said, "We will check you again and then you can get some rest." Well, they checked me and said, "Whoa, there he is. You are complete!"
(This is a picture of me at a 10 just waiting for my doctor to push) So they ran to get my doctor. I think the only trouble we had was that the cord was wrapped around his neck two times so I had to lay on my side most the time because each time I had a contraction his heart rate would go down. But before I knew it we had our little Kaven West at 3:00 a.m. What a sweet little boy he is! It only took three hours from the time we arrived at the hospital. I now understand when I have heard girls say that they have had periods worse that labor and delivery. Night and day between going natural early (with Emery, 36 weeks) and having an epidural on time (Kaven on due date)!!! WOW!! Welcome to the world little Kaven. We sure love you!

He is here and we couldn't be more pleased. It is not very often people have their babies on their due date. Here are just a few pictures. We just barely got home from the hospital so I will post more information later when I am more settled. Just thought I would send it out quick. Mom, baby, and family are well.

Easter Time!

"The Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny!" Is what Emery was saying when she found out the Easter Bunny had come. On Friday we decorated Eggs earlier in the day and later the "Easter Bunny" came hid them and other goodies as well. Emery did a lot better decorating the eggs than I thought. The purple egg is the first egg she has ever decorated. I thought it turned out very pretty. I personally liked her yellow one the best because yellow is my favorite color. Of course it is that much more fun when you can decorate with Cousins too. I think that decorating the eggs is such a pretty process. The colors are so fun and bright. So of course I had to get some pictures.
It was extra fun this year because she could actually run around and pick up the goodies, and get excited about it. I don't know but I think holidays are as much fun for me the adult watching it happen as it is for the kids. I am a bit of a holiday fanatic though. :)

And these last pictures are a few I took on Sunday, actual Easter. She is getting so big. I can not believe she is going to be 2 in like 2 weeks. She sure is a joy! I have been trying to enjoy time with just me and her before baby Kaven comes. Oh and speaking of baby Kaven, for those that are interested, I went to the doctor yesterday and we set up an induction date for Tuesday April 21st if he has not come by then. So he will be here within the week!!

Family Time!

We had a very fun and busy week. Going to the fair on Thursday was lots of fun but then playing with cousins was just as great the next few days as well. Over all I think Emery had the most fun jumping on the trampoline. She was on that thing with her cousins almost the whole time. But if she was not on the tramp then she was doing something else with them. I always say that there is something special about cousins. They are ALL always so sweet to her and they play so well together. It is very neat to watch and experience. I grew up very far away from my cousins but I remember LOVING to play with them when I did see them even though it was not very often. I guess families really do have a strong bong for some reason. She also loves her aunts and uncles a lot too. Erin is always so good to help out with her and play with her. She even got her goat Lucky out for her at the fair. Great job with your goat, by the way, Erin! Spending time with grandma and grandpa's babies chicks was a must too. She would have sat in that little Chickie pen all day if I would have let her. Grandma and Grandpa always have fun neat projects going on that are fun to see and experience. Aren't the Chickie's so cute? What a fun Easter project! Thanks everyone for being such a great family! We missed Zach and Nikki but still love them and have as much fun with them too. Maybe we will be seeing you soon!

Fair Time!

After getting permission from my doctor we decided to take the risk of me popping with this baby and drove down to the Clark County Fair and Rodeo. A risk well worth it I must say, even though I was a little embarrassed being seen in such a huge state. Emery had a BLAST and it was nice to get out and away before Kaven gets here. And here I am still pregnant so it really was a good risk. Here they are watching the pig races.
Sometimes the simple things are the most fun. They had a big area of dirt in the small animal building where the kids could dig up a vegetable out of the dirt and take it home. Emery found a good sized onion.Later as it was getting dark we went to the carnival with Cami, Brandon, Dantzel, James and Heston. Emery even got to go on a ride, which she thought was pretty cool.You can see how Emery felt by the end of the day. I must admit that after walking around in the sun all day pregnant I felt pretty similar but did not quite show my emotions like Emery. Thank goodness for Tim, he is our constant and strength in the family. What a great day we had at the fair. Very well worth it!!

Going on a Lizard Hunt

This is a very overdue post. We actually went on this lizard hunt about three weeks ago but I thought it was pretty fun. Emery had a blast playing in the dirt, climbing all the rocks, coloring on the rocks with charcoal, catching lizards, holding the lizards and swinging on the swings.





We have some great friends that went with us. It is so nice to get out into the Spring air. Can't wait for more outdoor adventures because we all LOVE them!
