TRAX Train

In January before school started again, we wanted to take the kids to ride on Trax. Kaven has been wanting to ride a train, and seeing how getting tickets to something like Heber Valley railroad is out of our budget at this time, we thought Trax was a great second best. As most of you know, Kaven is obsessed with anything that goes, so this was a perfect outing for our family and the kids didn't even know the difference between the two trains. It only cost us $6.00 for our whole family to ride Trax (Tim rides free as a student) compared to about $70.oo to ride the Heber Valley Railroad. That was a no brainer for us!

Kaven and I were ready for the day in Train hats and all.
First, we had to catch the shuttle bus to get to a Trax station.
This is the shuttle stop in front of where we live. We wait at this stop quite a bit to use the shuttle for Tim to get to class, for my and the kids doctor appointments, fun rides to visit dad at school, and to get to other places on campus like museums and such. Riding the shuttle is one of my kids favorite things to do here (and it is free!!!!).

Better catch it quick because here it comes! We even got to switch trains once to get to our destination, which added to the excitement.

We visited temple square and some of the sights there. By the way, I can hardly believe all the things to see on temple square. We have been there many time since we have lived her in SLC and every time we find something new to explore or look at and I don't think we have even seen half of it yet. There are so many displays and attractions there and it is all FREE! I love it.
My parents give us a gift card to Deseret Book for Christmas every year. So we made a stop there as well. This Deseret Book is right across the street from the temple. There was this really cool gadget window display. It made it look like it was making gingerbread cookies with belts, swings, ovens and pipes to run through. It was fun to watch for awhile. They even gave us a free cookie after watching the whole thing.
We all got something we wanted at Deseret Book and Kaven was off at full speed (with treasure in hand), ready to catch the Train again.

The kids enjoying their fun new toys they got at Deseret Book (Thanks Grandma and Grandpa). Emery picked out a magnet "paper doll" set. Kaven picked out a train book (in the shape of a train). I thought that was quite fitting for the day.

I must say that you can't beat a day like that for only $6.oo. What a bargain! Though the memories are priceless. He he...
