Rainy Day Picnic

Tim had yet another great idea. The day after Valentines Day was Presidents Day so we wanted to do something fun with the kids. It was a little rainy and wet but we didn't let it stop us from having A PICNIC! Emery LOVED helping prepare the lunch and even drew faces of each one of us so we know which bag was ours. I think this is the first people she as ever drawn. I was pretty impressed. Maybe we will have another artist on our hands. :) Emery loved feeding/chasing the geese.
We even ate on our own little private island in a gazebo. Tim said the weather reminded him of Ireland which was another bonus.

It seems we get cabin fever pretty bad this time of year so we decide the weather is not going to keep us indoors any longer. Who says you can't have a picnic on a rainy day?

My Valentines

Valentines Day wasn't too spectacular this year with it being on Sunday and all. I also had just been called into the Primary Presidency a few weeks ago and it has been pretty stressful for me. So we spent a lot of it talking about primary. Tim is such a great support. Our primary is actually two wards combine so I don't know half the kids or the teachers. But the amazing thing is how much LOVE I have for all these kids and teachers that I don't even know. I have never felt that quite like that before. I know it must come with the calling. Needless to say we did a little bit of celebrating and I took a few pictures of the calm things that happened that day. I am totally LOVING being a mom. It is SO GREAT having two kids now. To me it just feels more like a family even though I KNOW we are not complete yet. All with time I guess. I love how simple our lives are right now. Our only bills are our cell phones and rent because everything is included in our rent. I don't know how things can get more simple than that. I am sure we will look back some day and REALLY realize how simple it is. SO I better be grateful for it while it lasts. We are healthy, I have great kids and Tim is doing so well in school. How could we not LOVE life. Hope you all had a great Valentines Day!

Trolley Square

February 6th, 2009 (playing catch up)
We had a Saturday free so we decided to Experience some more of Salt Lake City. Tim had the idea to visit Trolley Square so off we went. I love his idea's. He parked across the street so Emery could experience the covered bridge. We probably spent most our time there. I love how the little things are the most fun! The mall was under A LOT of remodeling so there were only a few stores open but you can tell what a beautiful different kind of building it is. I especially liked the flooring. You can kind of tell in these pictures. Tim of course had to go up and down the escalator a few times with Emery while Kaven and I watched from his stroller. . I think it would be neat to go back again when all the re-modeling is done. I sure love my little family!!!

To fix ......or not to fix?????

I had just laid Kaven down for his nap and then about 10 minutes later I sent Emery off to Joy School with a friend. I am now thinking 'Hooray, I get some time all for myself!!!! Should I clean or read my book???? Still very excited I then tiptoe to check on Kaven and this is how I find him. As a mother I find myself in these tiny predicaments all the time and I have to decide what I am going to do. Hench the title of this post. Strangely enough I am also thinking how fast he is growing up to be in this position and that I should probably document some of the things he is doing right now or I will forget. So here it is:

8 months
He first started to climb up on things. He could kind of get around by wiggling and scooting on his bum (barely). Somehow he would end up next to something and pull himself up to a standing position on it. He then got his first two teeth (bottom two), and learned to crawl during Christmas break. That was a big month for him. :) We had to put the crib down because of this. He loved helping his dad do that.
9 months
Started saying, "Hi" and waving to people. It mostly started because when we get out of the car after a trip I always say, "Hi" excitedly to him and he started saying it back. Now his vocabulary consists of Ma, Ma, Da, Da, and Ni Ni (Night Night). Oh and la, lab a la with his tongue (a favorite thing right now).

He LOVES taking baths. If he hears the water turn on in the bathroom he takes off crawling as fast as he can to the bathroom. He then pulls himself up on the tub with a big smile on his face. I think Emery and Kaven take a least two baths a day because they have so much fun in there. Last night he heard us ask Emery if she wanted to take a bath. He must of understood us because he took off as fast as he could to the bathroom (before the water was even turned on). I think sometimes kids/babies are smarter than we realize. He is still an extreme Ma Mas boy but does love to be involved in what his Daddy is doing like helping him shine his shoes Saturday night, and fix things with him. He also loves and fears Emery. Now that he is getting around Emery thinks she can pick him up, wrestle him and drag him around. Because of this Emery is starting to get into trouble for things she doesn't even do. I just realized that sometimes Kaven will squeal when Emery sits down next to him to "play" (before Emery even does anything) I guess in anticipation of what he knows is going to come. At the same time Kaven is really into knocking things over and grabbing at whatever he see's someone is holding. I assume this can get very frustrating for Emery when they are playing together. I must admit that she has a lot of patience for him considering she is 2. They really do adore each other.
So I am now back to the dilemma. Did I fix his sleeping position or not. As you can see I am not cleaning the house or reading a book right now for that matter. I am doing this blog post with a very ornery little 9 month old on my lap. All of you experienced mothers out there are probably laughing at me at this point. But you live and learn. Who knows maybe next time I will just leave him be and he will wake up very sore and ornery rather than tired and ornery. I guess we just get to pick and choose our battles. :)

Either way, I am so blessed to have this little one in my life and I feel honored to be trusted with these sweet little spirits. Being a wife and mother is the greatest. I feel blessed beyond measure.

January may be slow....but...

it is great for SNOW!!!!

It snowed just a little bit the other day and it was just enough for Emery to practice sledding on our Giant hill next to our house. It was slippery enough to sled and the grass stuck through just enough to slow the sled down. She went by herself numerous times and even went superman style all by herself too. She is much braver than I ever was as a child. She is a girl that is going places!!

Sledding is great, but who can resist having a snowball fight or making a snow angle while you are at it. I guess not Tim and Emery. :)

And of course we had to put Kaven on the sled for the sake of a picture. Even though he did not go down by himself. I hope you all have had a great January!

Far Too LONG....

since we have been to Logandale.
I did not think I could miss it so much. It was the first time we made the trip down there since we have moved to Salt Lake City. It was a long time coming. We were able to soak it all in and have a BLAST. We filled our days full of so many fun things that we didn't even get to go Geo Cashing (our new hobby, which my last post was about). That's o.k. though is just gives us more of a reason to go again soon. :)
We were able to:
play the piano with Grandma.
It was the first time we saw the new piano in their house and I spent a great portion of my time playing it and listening to it play on it's own. Emery loved listening to it play The Little Mermaid songs. She got more scared listening to the scary songs on the piano than watching the actual movie. That is how impressive it it. WOW!
....spend tons of time outside in the beautiful weather.
I can't believe I used to think it was cold in the winter there when I was growing up. I could go outside without a jacket on and it felt GREAT!
.....give Cami (my sister) a haircut.

Actually Tim cut it and I was pretty nervous about it but it turned out REALLY cute. Cami is so brave and Tim is so talented in everything. He gave her layers and the whole works. He never seizes to amaze me on what he can do, even when he has no experience in it.
.....play with cousins.
Cami came to see us on Saturday and we went to Mesquite on Sunday. We had lunch at my grandparents with Cami's family and my dads sisters family which we have not seen for a long time. Great Fun!
There were so many other things we did that I did not get pictures of like visit with my parents, card games, movies ect. It was a fabulous weekend. The only problem was it was not quite long enough. Guess we will just have to plan another trip soon.
