Thankful for My Kaven Boy!

WOW! I can hardly believe that he is 6 months old! This little guys is just SO special to me. I figured I better write a few things about him since he is approaching 7 months now. *The thing that I love most about him is that he is a TOTAL Mamas boy!!!! I think the reason why he is so photogenic is because his eyes are almost ALWAYS on me, and he is so smiley. When ever his dad (or anyone else holds him), he keeps his eyes on me the whole time, even to the point to where his neck gets majorly kinked to do so! He then will lean as much as he can towards me. Once I grab him, he gives his dad that, I got what I want look, then snuggles in my neck. Sure melts my heart! *His sister is probably his second favorite person! They just adore each other! It is great that they are so happy to play with each other and by each other! They LOVE to wrestle (the best he can). Emery will open her arms to him and he will dive towards her and rub his head on her face or neck and wiggle around. Emery gets a kick out of it. Any time he starts crying Emery will run to his aid and sing him a song or give him a toy. Last night I heard him start to cry in the night. I go in to check on him and I hear Emery in her bed saying, "It's o.k. buddy, your alright Kaven boy." *From the time he was born he has been very special to me. He had taught me that having a baby CAN be fun and not so terribly hard (My poor Emery girl had a hard start in life). I no longer look at babies and cringe, but almost get baby hungry. Crazy seeing that I already have a baby! That is how sweet he is! *We just barely started to teach him to go to sleep on his own. It only took him two times of crying and now all you have to do is lay him down and he goes to sleep! What an easy child!!!! I put off teaching him because I just love rocking him and snuggling him so much! He quit letting me rock him to sleep so I figured it was time to let him do it on his own. *He is so happy all the time! Sometimes we call him flapper because he is always flapping his arms up and down because he is so excited about everything all the time! Emery then says, "flapper, flapper," and that gets him going all the more. * The other day we were sitting in the living room and he was babbling away. At the time he kept saying Da Da Da Da. So we started asking him questions like, "Who is your buddy?" and "Who do you love?" which he kept saying ,"Da, da, da.." I had just noticed that he needed a diaper change. So thinking I was clever and going to get out of diaper duty I asked him, "Who do you want to change your diaper?" He pauses for a little bit then says, "Ma, ma." Guess I dug my own hole for that one. :) These are just a few of the many wonderful things about him. He sure is loved in this household!

Little Haunts

I am finally coming around to posting about Halloween at This is This Place Heritage Park. I have been wanting to go there since we moved here, then Voila we won tickets! We had a great time with our friends the Whetmans. Emery (a.k.a Embrey by Cameron) loves playing with Cameron (a.k.a Cramrin by Emery). So she was pretty excited to spend a lot of the day with him. Here are some things we did:

Horse Rides (I just love her cowboy boots given to her by Grandpa Alan! We thought they would be appropriate for the experience and they matched perfect with her costume too!)

Doing Projects (Emery especially loved the one where you scratch a black bat with a stick and the colors come through. She carried that thing around with her everywhere!)

We also went for a train ride, had story time from a witch and did some other fun things! I am just glad we were able to do something fun before we all got sick!

Be careful what you wish for........

because you might end up looking like this on Halloween Night It all began October 5th with the Photo Halloween Party (pictures in header) then dressing up in Halloween costumes and Painting Pumpkins in Delta (pictures in previous posts). At this point we are still going strong. Then we made Haunted Houses out of cereal boxes for FHE on the 19th. As you see, this is when things started to falter (it is not compleated). On Sunday we got a little bit more ambition again and made Jack-o-Lantern pumpkin cookies for neighbors, BUT we ended up throwing them away because we were just too worn out to deliever them. Well this is just the begining. The whole next week we had a Halloween party or function almost every day of the week!

Well, we had so much fun before Halloween this year that on Friday we said, WE ARE JUST HALLOWEENED OUT as we dragged our giant pumpkins (eagerly awaiting to be carved) to the car!!!! I know, I know, you are all probably thinking WHAT!!! the holiday and party weirdos burnded out??????????? Yes, I am sad it say, it was true. BUT we were recharged again on Halloween morning. We had a full day planned out. For breakfast we had Monster omlets. Then we were off to This is the Place Herritage Park for the Little Haunts with some great friends. Which I am going to do a different post on. It was tons of fun and I got A LOT of Pictures!!! But here is a little video for peeks
. We were going to take a little break for nap time and carving pumpkins (sense we pooped out on Friday) then head off to Trick-or-Treating and dinner/Utes game/Halloween get together with the same friends in the evening (Which we were REALLY looking forward to). BUT now we're back to the begining of my post.
Tim started feeling down during our "break" and ended up sick on Halloween Night! So we had to cancel with our friends and sat around at home all night. We didn't even pass out candy because Tim had touched it all and we did not want to spread anything by chance! So I guess we got what we wished for. Halloween OUT!!!
Needless to say we had a FABULOUS month of Halloween activities and we learned some important lessons:
Be careful what you wish for and
Maybe you really can have too much of a good thing.

For the TRICK
We have a new addition to our family and Emery is learning a new trick of playing randomly on it while imagining she is in a grand hall playing for a queen or something (imaginations are great). We have thoroughly been enjoying this new addition. It is and will be very special to us for it comes with a LOT of memories and stories! I could not even begin to share them all but to sum it up: it was given to my mother by her grandmother when I was very young and played on and loved by many. It has now been past on to me and my children. It reminds me of that song, The Touch of The Masters Hand, where the old violin was considered worthless until the master played a song from within and the bids started to rise. The only difference is in this case this piano has not always been played on by masters (a few like Nikki) but from little girls playing from their hearts for their great grandmother sitting near by or their mother while working in the kitchen. It may not be worth as much as other pianos or sound as great but it is truly loved and appreciated in this household and will always be cherished. Thanks mom and dad!
As for the TREAT......
My parents were able to come and see us at the beginning of last week (to bring the piano and for a wedding). I am so grateful for the role they play in my life! They are amazing people and I love being around them. It is wonderful having great examples in life to look to and the great support they are to us!
We also had Cami (my sister) and Brandon come stay with us toward the end of last week as well. They are always so much fun to be around and some of my favorite people to visit with. It seems like Cami and I end up talking and laughing away in one room while Tim and Brandon have deep intriguing conversations in another. It was so fun to see Duncan. He has grown so much and has such a sweet special little spirit! Emery and Kaven loved to see them as well. We were SO LUCKY to have a week full of GREAT people in our home! I sure love my family! Our Halloween if fulfilled with all these tricks and treats. Who needs "Trick or Treating" when you have experiences like this! I guess it just adds to the joy of it all! Happy Halloween!

Visiting Old Haunted Houses

We went to Manti for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where they were honoring Tim's great,great,great grandpa. We visited a lot of the old houses, a cemetery and had lunch there (the house are not really haunted that I know of, but really cool).

While in Delta we pulled out the Halloween costumes from Tim's childhood. Emery had a blast dressing up in all kinds of things like a witch, bat, batman, ghost, ect.

A friend of Tim's mom gave us some pumpkins to paint. Of course we jumped on that! Emery went to town on hers.

Brady had a great idea to load up the Truck and take the motorcycle to a dormant volcano near Delta and the Lacy Curtains (pictured above) We had a BBQ and did lots of exploring. GREAT FUN!

Halloween's Coming........

I just LOVE the holiday seasons!!! I always get so excited about putting decorations up around my house and making costumes. But this year I didn't have my Halloween decorations, because of the move they are in storage. So I decided to put more effort into my blog. SO MUCH FUN!

Luckily I have a great friend who is a professional photographer( Ravenberg Photography )that threw a Halloween Party and took quick pictures of all the kids. She mostly does Weddings and Engagement pictures so she was nice enough to deal with our wiggly uncooperative kids! THANKS BECKY! Your the best!

I think Emery's costume this year was the most fun one I have made. It is probably because she was SO EXCITED about it. When we got the material at the store she spent the rest of the shopping trip sitting in the cart rubbing the material on her face. And each time I got a piece of it done, she would try it on and get so excited. Man, holidays are fun with kids! Sorry to say I did NOT make Kaven's costume, I got it from a friend and it was still brand new with the tags on it and everything. Plus he just looked so dang cute in it, so I couldn't pass it up. :) Anyway, I know this is a silly picture to post of Emery but I just thought it was cute because that is just how she is when I try to get pictures of her (Not looking, or playing with something else.) Then there is Kaven so easy to please. Got to love it! Happy Halloween!

Brady's Vist Part 2: Capital Building

We asked Brady if there was anything he wanted to do while he was in Salt Lake City and he said he wanted to walk around Temple Square. We thought about that then remembering it was conference weekend decided against it. Save it for another time when it is not so busy. So then he decided he wanted to see the State Capital Building. So off we went.




I could not believe this building. It was way bigger than I thought and beautiful!!!! Emery thought it was pretty cool too! She just wanted to play on those fancy stairways the whole time. Maybe some day she will make a movie like entrance on them in a beautiful gown! :)
But I would prefer to keep her as she is now. Cute, messy face, sing, dance, hop skip around everything, with the occasional tantrum! Sure love my girl!
